Andrew is TWO today! I can't believe it. I really can't. We celebrated yesterday because today everyone is back to work, school and after school activities. He actually had a fun filled long weekend for his birthday celebration. On Saturday we went to the Manitou Cliff Dwellings (up in the mountains down below Pikes Peak) to tour where some of the Pueblo Indians lived. Alex actually had to go there for a school assignment, but we made a family activity out of it and the kids all had a good time climbing around.
After we left the cliff dwellings we decided, since we were down near zoo and we have a membership to the zoo, to stop by there for a little while. I took the girls and Andrew there a week before when Analeigh had a day off of school that Alex didn't. There had been a new baby Giraffe born (Abigail's FAVORITE!) in July and a new baby Gorilla on August 14th and we had seen both of the babies when we were there before, so we wanted to show Alex and Scott. We got to see them again this time. It is always fun to see and feed the giraffes! Then we went home and as we were pulling in to our street I remembered that the neighbors were having a little Labor Day weekend get together in their backyard, so we went over there to visit with neighbors and get to know them all a little bit better. The kids had a great time playing with all of the neighborhood kids and making s'mores in their fire pit. Andrew and Abigail were exhausted by the end of the day Saturday...it had been an eventful day!
Sunday was church and rest up day. We put Andrew to bed at bedtime that night and stayed up playing Disney Scene It with the other 3 kids. Abigail had the best time playing with us. She felt like such a big kid and would yell out answers after we did and really felt like she was helping out. It was so cute watching her.
So Monday, we celebrated Andrew's birthday. We went to a street art and craft fair during the day. Then, in the evening we grilled steaks and hot dogs and had baked potatoes and Andrew's favorite...corn on the cob. He calls it "corner". It is too funny. We brought the corn out and he yelled, "ahh, corner!". We opened presents. he got a Build a Bear Monkey from Mimi and Papa (my mom and dad) and some Thomas the Train track pieces for our train table, some books and clothes from us. I made a "Thomas train" cake for him, but since we already have about 3 or so Thomas' I put the James and Billy trains on top. He loved it! It made me feel good that he was so excited about it.
Andrew is just such a happy boy. He is snuggly and loving. If he hears us sneeze or cough he always ask, "you ok?". He loves people and looks everyone in the eyes and smiles at them, pats their legs, says hi to everyone. He yelled "HI!" as loud as he could out the window yesterday to the garbage men and they looked up to find him and waved. We finally had him liking Nursery at church before we moved, but now he's not liking it so much again. He just likes to be with his Mama, what can I say? haha He makes it through all the class time in Nursery, he just has to be held a lot. But in his defense, there are a LOT of kids in a tiny room...and there are a lot of kids that moved here around the same time we did and they all cry, so it's not a very peaceful place to hang out. He can usually be found carrying around cars or trains. He still loves his paci...he is the only one of our kids that has ever liked a pacifier. He has got an arm when it comes to balls. He loves them! It is near impossible to keep him off the soccer field when we go to Alex's games.
He is such a fun kid!
